2024 JAMB UTME mock exam - All the things candidates should know

The JAMB UTME mock exam is an optional pre-examination test conducted by JAMB annually for candidates preparing to take the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Jamb 2024

What is the UTME Mock Exam?

The UTME mock exam serves as a practice test for candidates and is organized by JAMB. Candidates who expressed interest in participating during the initial UTME registration phase will have the opportunity to take the mock exam on Thursday, 7th March, 2024.

Mock Exam: Not Compulsory, Yet Valuable

It's important to note that the mock exam is not mandatory. The score obtained in the mock exam does not contribute to the final UTME score, nor is it a prerequisite for participating in the main exam. However, the mock exam holds several benefits for candidates.

Assessing Preparation and Familiarizing with the Test Environment

The primary purpose of the mock examination is to allow candidates to evaluate their level of preparedness and become acquainted with the computer-based test (CBT) environment. Since its inception in 2017, the mock exam has provided hands-on experience to all candidates, particularly those who are less familiar with computer usage.

Testing Systems and Preparing CBT Centers

Apart from benefiting candidates, the mock exam also serves as an opportunity for JAMB to test the efficiency of systems in all exam centers, ensuring a smooth process during the main exam. Moreover, it enables the CBT centers to gain insights into managing candidates effectively during the main UTME.

Important Updates for Candidates

As the JAMB mock exam approaches, here are some updates to keep in mind, regardless of whether you are participating in the mock exam or not:

1. Date for Mock Exam Slip Printing and Procedures:
Stay informed about the date for printing your mock exam slip. The slip will provide details such as the venue and time of the exam for eligible candidates.

2. What to Look Out for During the Mock Exam:
Be aware of what to expect during the mock exam. Stay updated on the test format, time allocation, and other important instructions.

3. Mock Live Update:
Engage in a pre-exam discussion by sharing updates from the moment you arrive at the venue. This will be beneficial for candidates who will not be taking part in the mock exam.

4. Mock Experience Update:
After the mock exam, share your experience to provide valuable insights for candidates who did not participate. This will help them gain an understanding of the exam environment and what to expect.

5. Mock Questions Update:
Create a thread to share any questions you encountered during the mock exam. This will assist candidates who will not be partaking in the mock exam in preparing for the main jamb.

The jamb mock exam offers candidates a chance to gauge their preparedness and become familiar with the CBT environment. Although not compulsory, it provides valuable insights and helps ensure a smooth conduct of the main UTME. Stay updated with the latest information and share your experiences and questions to support fellow candidates throughout the process. Good luck!
